Right after I finished drawing this Syb said to me, "So that's how the sunwood got here." Unfortunately I couldn't fit the line into the next page.

There are a lot of things that need to be considered when writing for a comic, a lot of which don't need to be addressed when writing a book. I decided to give Gemini magical sparks as an indicator for when she is changing the appearance of one of her illusions. This makes sense in everyday situations, because while she is creating or releasing an illusion, light escapes her control in random patterns unless she pays strict attention. Very few other elven talents produce sparkly lights. There may be a time when she is controlling the changes more tightly, and I will have to make it clear in other ways that she has used magic.
On the other hand, I won't always be able to make things so visually authentic; some pieces of the story require knowledge of what an invisible person is doing. I will probably have to figure out a way of drawing invisible people.
In related news, the next time Gemi uses illusion, the sparks are done differently, so be prepared.
Another thing that I am putting more thought into as I draw the comic is climate, and more specifically the growing seasons of plants. In a fantasy world separate from our own, such as this one, it isn't as important to research the details and get them right, but it still makes a difference.
The climate in LleuGarnock is quite similar to my native Pennsylvania, although with a touch of England in the mild winters and plant life. Currently it is late summer; the apples are just starting to be ripe, and buckwheat is almost ready to be harvested. In mid fall there will also be a species of plum which grows late for the common plum season, but not as late as the sloe. I haven't thought much more about it than that; I'm not sure if my berry seasons are accurate or not. But I think it's accurate enough that I could justify most inconsistencies. Feel free to tell me if I'm missing something.Right after I finished drawing this Syb said to me, "So that's how the sunwood got here." Unfortunately I couldn't fit the line into the next page.
