Hey, all! Today's comic was the first where I used brush pen, and only in a very limited capacity, for the flowers. I worked it in over the next few comics. In a couple more weeks, you'll get to see the actual characters done in brush pen. For now, though, it's just organic stuff and backgrounds.

I've been working on my tie-dye project. It's really fun, but kind of sloppy at this point. I'm still learning what to do to get the kind of results I want. If I ever sell at a convention probably nothing I've done up to now will make it onto the table. But even if this is one of those crafts that I invest money in and then decide it's not for me, at least it's really really fun.

The novel that William and I are writing is actually making some progress again. As is typical for its recent twitches of life, the project seems mostly to consist of William mentioning how he needs to write things, me being inspired and writing a page or three, William coming to me with his ideas for new stuff to add and me shooting them down for the sake of simplicity and logic. To be fair, he has been doing some editing, and some of his suggestions are really helpful. The discussions of what works and what doesn't are my favorite part of the process.

I've been trying out baking with sorghum flour, since I don't eat gluten and it seems that James might be sensitive to rice, my staple grain up til now. Fortunately sorghum seems to work very well for my favorite baking project, which is muffins. I made some pretty amazing lightly spiced banana muffins with chocolate chips. They contained no gluten, milk or rice. That brings the total of people who I cook for sometimes who can't eat them down to four - two for eggs, one for chocolate, and one for bananas and sugar. I also know some vegans and people on low-carb, flourless or raw diets, but I generally don't cook for them.

My sister's moved into the dorm. She's rooming with William's fiancee, which is great fun and I think they will get along well. I helped her move and unpack her stuff, and I also helped Mel's friend Mel arrange her books and DVD's. It was fun and I felt very helpful and hufflepuffy.

So yeah, with all that and James practically forcing me to read the Dresden Files, I haven't actually worked on the actual comic in the last week. I'm really pretty much done Chapter Two; the page I'm stuck on isn't actually necessary, now that I think of it. If I don't get around to finishing it I can just let it go. Now what's stewing in my head is the beginning of Chapter Three, and while I have the bulk of the chapter plotted out and semi-scripted, the transition from the current moment to the next script requires some thought.

I've got a little bit of work I might do on some of the site pages, so that's something I can use as an excuse not to start the next comic yet.

I think I'll go make some more delicious muffins. Bye!
