I'm afraid I've gotten out of the habit of blogging. I don't really have anything relevant to say about the comic, but people like to know what I'm up to. Maybe I should start a Twitter or something.

I drew three more comics, so I'm up to four months of buffer again. I'm still trying to figure out this flashback, and by the time it's done you'll probably be quite tired of hearing about it. I still have at least a couple of comics to write and draw before it starts, and it will probably end up being four or five pages long. Once I've actually started drawing it it won't take that long, but it's certainly taking a lot of time to plan.

The tablet is certainly fun to have, and I know my comics look better because of it. There are just a couple of sort of negative things. It takes me longer to ink, because I know I can do it perfectly. I'm working on one panel, and the stuff I have inked is beautiful, but every time I go to put in another line I have to do it over three or four times until it's as nice looking as the rest. If I were inking with a brush I'd be hurrying to get the page done so my ink wouldn't dry. I don't have that motivation with the tablet.

The other issue also affects the speed of my work. That thing is heavy. I don't want to spend hours and hours with it on my lap the way I might with a clipboard. So I put it down pretty often. Then I don't want to pick it up because it's hard to get it out of its stand. That doesn't really affect me if I'm inspired to be drawing; I'll leave it in the corner of the couch while I'm taking a break. It does stop me from experimenting and doodling as much as I would.

I thought having a new computer to go with the Cintiq would make the laptop kind of redundant. But it's really great to be able to type and code and move and rename files on a lighter computer. I could use the big computer (which is now the gaming computer, since the new art computer is just as powerful), but then I couldn't be watching TV right now while I'm writing this! Also I just like the couch. It's my office.

I really enjoy roaming the CG forums. I'm helping out in the help forum; I like feeling useful. I was there a lot over the summer, when the majority of new comics start up, but then in September the load went way down, and the Doc seemed to be able to handle it. Now the Doc's retired, so I've been acting as a first line of defense. Anything I don't know the answer to, the admins will usually come and sort it out eventually. Currently I'm helping someone with a quick makeover of their site; it's turning out pretty slick looking.

I think Chapter Three is going to be shorter than the first two. I have a couple of reasons for this. The major one is that the obvious stopping point is approaching. The same amount of stuff happens in the third chapter, but I'm learning to avoid some of the fluffier kind of pages I put in the first two chapters. Also, now I'm excited to work on the fourth chapter. I guess I'd better get to work finishing the third!
